The System of Control over the Rolled Stock Cutting Process on a Continuous Billet Mill (Version2)
The system's purpose is to minimize the rolling-mill scrap (crops) and the amount of random bar lengths at the exit from the main and bypass line of a continuous billet mill, as well as to keep a reliable record of the produced rolled stock.
The system's functions are:
- to measure the stocks on the continuous billet mill:
- to measure the stock length at the exit from the roughing train of the continuous billet mill;
- to measure the semi-finished stock length before the entrance into the finishing train of the continuous billet mill;
- to measure the length of the front and back end of the finished stock;
- to measure and control the free cutting length on the flying shears;
- to measure the finished (actual) length of the cutoff bars.
- to calculate the cutting plan for the main and bypass line of the continuous billet mill;
- uniform nonresidual cutting;
- cutting into bars of specified length according to the programmed setting;
- cutting into billets of specified length according to several settings, the values of which are calculated by means of multifactor analysis, based on the condition of minimal total amount of scrap on the continuous billet mill and on the rolling mills;
- to control the length of the cutoff bars on the flying shears according to the cutting plan;
- to display on-line information about the cutting process and its results on special consoles of the main and bypass line control pulpits and on the pulpit of the production control department operator;
- to control the system operating modes directly from the special consoles installed on the control pulpits of the continuous billet mill;
- to keep full record of the cutting process (full record of each ingot cutting, full record of all associated sensors operation, record of all emergency situations on the mill etc.).
- to keep record of the metal, rolled on the continuous billet mill, as well as of the cutting scrap.
Hardware:
- Two microprocessor control systems (MCS) based on PC1001 facilities;
- Two personal IBM-compatible computers for the cutting process recording and indication and integration into the factory information network;
- Special operator's pulpits based on ПУ-77;
- Uninterruptible power supply APC Smart UPS (700 VA).
Software: special-purpose real-time operating system including MCS, software for the rolled stock record.
