Information-Calculating System "The Operator's Adviser"
The system works out recommendations regarding the modes of the ingot heating in the soaking pits of the roughing plants under conditions of the rolling mill stable operation, as well as during the equipment downtimes, with a view to increasing the operating efficiency of the soaking pits division.
The system's functions are:
- to provide communication between the stripping division of steelmaking shops and the soaking pits division of rolling shops.
- to provide automatic measurement of the metal surface temperature before charging the metal into the soaking pit depending on the ingot type and its handling time.
- to calculate the metal heating modes depending on the steel grade, the ingot type and the ingot's handling time.
- to calculate the metal heating modes in case of delays in the ingot discharge for rolling and to work out recommendations regarding their implementation.
- to record the data about the metal heating and save them on the hard disk for further analysis.
Hardware:
- The chief operator's and the loader's workstation (industrial version) with an IDE flesh-Winchester in the IPC610 cabinet produced by "ADVANTECH".
- The operator's computer (office version) based on an Intel Celeron 633 PPGA processor.
- Uninterruptible power supplies BK500MI Back-UPS (500VA)
- Network cards PCI: RTL 8019
- Ink-jet printer "HP DESKJET 640C"
Software, written in "С" language, functioning in the real-time operational system QNX.
The system is implemented at the roughing plant of the JSC "Enakievo Metallurgical Works" (Enakievo, Ukraine).
The information-calculating system "The operator's adviser" can operate off-line, it can also be integrated into existing automated control systems "Steel rolled stock". The system can be efficiently used in the soaking pits divisions of the rolling shops of metallurgical works.
